Retreat to Baja …

This trip is ON and there is one space still available!

MARCH 28th - APRIL 4th, 2023

Creative? Curious? Nature loving? Need an escape from the everyday? A chance to unplug? Chill out with the Tribe in a serene valley nestled in the spectacular foothills of the Sierra de Juárez mountain range at an authentic 2,800-acre, backcountry horse ranch. A quick drive from our pick-up point in San Diego but worlds away from the every day in every possible way. Spend the week surrounded by natural beauty with a chance to learn native Paipai pottery and Kumiai basketry from two wonderful indigenous women--Dara and Diana-- both masters of their crafts! We’ll be using all natural, locally sourced materials. Workshops are casual, unhurried, perfect for beginners and everyone works at their own pace.

Not only will you be in the company of the amazing women of the Travel Tribe, you'll have plenty of opportunity to get up close and personal with friendly ranch dogs, flocks of sheep and a herd of working horses roaming the hillside of this vast ranch. Meet the Aguiar family. Let Raul, the head honcho and our gracious ranch host, regale you with tales of his family through the generations and the inner workings of ranch life. Fall in love with Ellen, the Founder of Baja Rancho Art, our incomparable tour leader and unofficial Spanish language interpreter.

Do as much or as little as you like. Work up a sweat hiking up the rugged hillside. Stroll along a creek bed with a naturalist checking out the local flora and fauna. Enjoy good, clean home-cooked traditional Mexican cuisine. Take a dip in the sparkling clean pool. Curl up with a good book under a gazebo. Maybe go for a horseback ride if you’ve got some riding experience under your belt. Day trips include wine tastings, shopping ops in Ensenada and a stop at the wonderful Bar Andaluz at the Riviera del Pacifico—that claims to be the birthplace of the Margarita. In the evenings, gather in front of a campfire with the ranch dogs at your feet.

If you're looking for an opportunity to relax in an environment surrounded by beauty and nature and a wonderful group of women...or to flex your creative muscles in a relaxed, unhurried casual practice over a period of days--this may be just the ticket. Join us as we step back in time to the days when surrounding oneself with the simplicities of nature were all that was required to make any day a good day.
