DAILY ITINERARY

  • Guatemala City / Antigua / Arrival Day

    Upon arrival, you will be greeted at the airport and transferred to the charming city of Antigua via one of two set rides, depending on your arrival time. Antigua is celebrated for its well-preserved Spanish Baroque architecture, vibrant cultural scene, and stunning views of surrounding volcanoes. Once there, we’ll check into our luxurious 5-star hotel, where our team will be available to assist those who arrive early or wish to participate in activities for the day. In the evening we will hold a tour orientation followed by our first group dinner, featuring traditional Guatemalan cuisine.

  • Antigua

    Today we’ll set off to explore the rich agricultural heritage surrounding Antigua. Our first stop will be at a sustainable macadamia nut farm dedicated to reforestation and environmental conservation. Here we'll delve into the fascinating world of macadamia cultivation, learning about the processes from planting to harvest. We'll have the opportunity to sample fresh macadamia products and perhaps even indulge in their renowned macadamia-infused skincare treatments. Next we'll visit a coffee plantation, where we'll tour the nursery, plantations, and processing facilities. We’ll conclude with a coffee tasting, allowing you to savor the distinct flavors and aromas of locally grown beans before heading to a nearby restaurant for lunch. The rest of the afternoon will be yours to explore Antigua at your own pace, whether you wish to wander through local markets or relax in a charming café.

  • Antigua

    After a slow and relaxed morning, we’ll head to a nearby spa for an 80-minute cacao massage, a treatment that uses the natural properties of cacao combined with gentle pressure to relieve tension, boost circulation, and leave you feeling refreshed. You’ll also have full access to the spa’s facilities—take a dip in the pool, soak in the jacuzzis, or unwind in the wet and dry saunas. We’ll enjoy lunch right at the spa’s restaurant, then the rest of the day will be yours at leisure. You might choose to stroll Antigua’s cobblestone streets, browse some of the local markets, or admire the view of the nearby volcanoes. If you’d prefer something different, consider exploring a museum, joining a chocolate workshop, or simply sitting in the main plaza. Your tour leader will be there to help you plan your ideal afternoon.

  • Antigua / San Antonio / Santa Catarina / Lago Atitlán

    Today we’ll explore two of the many charming villages that grace the shores of Lake Atitlán. We'll begin with a 2.5-hour drive through the Guatemalan countryside, during which we’ll stop for some of the best views of the Atitlán, Tolimán, and San Pedro volcanoes. Our first destination will be San Antonio Palopó, celebrated for its time-honored ceramics factory. Here you'll have the chance to witness skilled artisans crafting intricate pottery using age-old techniques. We’ll then have lunch at a local restaurant before continuing to Santa Catarina Palopó, famous for the colorful traditional attire worn by its women and the beautiful textiles produced in the village. After our visits we'll check into our lake resort, situated on the tranquil shores of Lake Atitlán. Here you'll have some free time to relax before enjoying dinner at the resort.

  • Lago Atitlán / Chichicastenango / Lago Atitlán

    In the morning we’ll depart from Lake Atitlán and embark on a 1.5-hour journey to Chichicastenango, home to one of the most renowned indigenous markets in Latin America. We'll explore the lively market, where local Maya people gather to sell colorful textiles, handicrafts, and fresh produce, providing a unique glimpse into their rich culture and traditions. Next we'll partake in an ancestral Maya cooking class, featuring gourmet cuisine rooted in age-old recipes. After enjoying the delicious lunch we’ve prepared and enjoying some free time to keep exploring Chichicastenango, we’ll return to our hotel, allowing you time to enjoy the hotel's amenities and views of Lake Atitlán.

  • Lago Atiltán / San Juan / Guatemala City

    After an early breakfast we’ll set out on a boat excursion to San Juan La Laguna, a picturesque village inhabited by the Tz’utujil Maya. This town is celebrated for its harmonious blend of culture and nature, with vibrant street art created by local artists adorning the village walls. We’ll take a leisurely walk through town to admire these murals and visit art galleries. We'll also stop at the weaving cooperative led by local women, where we’ll participate in a hands-on workshop to learn about the intricate weaving process and how they create natural dyes from plants and seeds. After the workshop, we’ll have the opportunity to enjoy lunch with the community, experiencing traditional Guatemalan hospitality. In the afternoon we'll begin our 3-hour drive back to Guatemala City, where the day will conclude with a memorable farewell dinner.

Accommodations

On this trip, we'll stay at convenient located 5✫ hotels in beautiful Antigua and Guatemala City, as well as a wonderful 4✫ resort on the shores of Lake Atitlán.

All rooms offer a comfortable stay with private bathrooms. For this particular trip, there are a maximum of 8 single rooms available. These rooms will be offered on a first-come-first served basis. The remainder of the rooms will be shared. Solo travelers requesting a shared room will be paired together, two travelers per room in two single beds.

Physical Demands: Moderate 

This tour requires a certain level of physical activity in a warm climate. Please note that the trip may involve long days and early morning wake-ups, walking tours of up to 2 hours at a time, and other similar scenarios.

We may be walking on paved, unpaved, uneven and surfaces in both urban and rural settings that may include hills and steps.

At times, you may be responsible for handling your own luggage.

For all of these reasons, a good level of physical fitness is advised.
